A paralegal resume needs to show the practice area, the case volume, and that filings went out correct and on deadline — attorneys hire for reliability under court dates.
Three things, in order of weight.
Practice area and setting: litigation, corporate, real estate, immigration; firm size or in-house.
Litigation support depth — discovery and document review, e-filing in state and federal courts (PACER/CM-ECF), trial binders.
Systems and accuracy: Clio, Relativity, docketing, and a clean record on deadlines.
Work them into your title, project descriptions and skills — don't pile them into a list.
Each cover is the template itself, rendered.
The format law firms already expect; nothing distracts from substance.
Tight, orderly structure that mirrors the precision of legal work.
Plain single column that parses cleanly through firm ATS systems.
One page. Unless you have 10+ years and a genuinely full second page, the second page only dilutes the first. Put practice area and setting: litigation, corporate, real estate, immigration; firm size or in-house. above the fold.
Not naming the practice area, so a litigation firm can't tell if you've ever drafted a discovery response.. It is the single most common reason this role gets screened out, and fixing it matters far more than changing templates.
